 Back to… Back

Ontario Indoor Champions

The U17 Girls Oshawa Kicks Extreme, did it again in the Ontario Indoor Cup.  The past week-end this team coached by our technical Director Raffaele Tomarchio, won their consecutive provincial title by defeating Markham Lighting for a score of 2-0.In the semi-finals, the extreme met the very skilled OYSL Brams United Blaze. After going down by a goal early in the game, the Extreme answered back with two goals from Nikosi Simmons and advanced to the final to meet Markham Lightning.  This was their second encounter in the competition, which saw Markham winning  their first match with a very late goal in the game. However this was a different, and highly motivated Extreme team. The first 10 minutes of the game saw Oshawa with much of the possession and lots of shots on goal while Markham was forced to spend its time defending. Just two minutes into the game, Oshawa’s Julia Theophille received a ball on the wing and she played it across the net to the bottom corner to give her team a 1-0 win. Markham became more involved in the last five minutes of the half and began to put the pressure on the Oshawa team. Despite the pressure, Markham ran out of time and with seconds left in the game, Oshawa’s Alyssa Riley added the insurance goal. Oshawa Kicks Extreme defeated the Markham Lightning 2-0 to become the Ontario Indoor Cup Champions.
