U10 Boys
Red Falcons Soar to CESL U10 Boys East Division Champions
The Oshawa Kicks Red Falcons U10 boys team finished first in the CESL East Division. The Red Falcons led by Coach Robert Stel went undefeated with an 11-0-1 record on the season. The only blemish was a hard fought 0-0 tie with a strong Darlington team where both teams played well.
On the field this year’s team was led by team captain Christopher Wilson who’s strong and creative mid field play ensured consistent ball wins in the mid field and distribution of the ball all over the pitch, not to mention 9 key goals; Kenan Lawrence-Robinson on Defence who provided relentless challenges to opposition forwards and strong ball distribution game-in and game-out. Jaimal Sodhi, first year goalie, steadily improved as the year progressed to end up with 6 shutouts. Jean Paul Ajala-Alexis at striker and leading scorer this year’s team also proved the common theme of the Red Falcons ball distribution.
The Red Falcons, in their second year of play, improved from there 5th place finish last year in the DBSL. The team worked hard over the winter and played in the SISL and were they were cup finalists. The Red Falcons used ball control and timely scoring this year finding the back of the net 76 goals in 12 games (2nd in CESL at time of this article) while allowing only 12 goals. Scoring leaders on the team were Jean Paul Ajala-Alexis with 19, Conner Fagan with 14, and Jaden Rampersad with 11.
Throughout the season the Red Falcons have received strong support from coaches, managers, parents, Oshawa Kicks, and Durham Shores Dental Center (web: http://www.durhamdentalcentres.com/ ). The team thanks all of you for your continued support throughout the year.
At the start of the season one of the primary goals was to win the division that was achieved. The hope is to continue with the steady improvement while entering the second year in the CESL where team division placement has not yet been announced by the league. Expectation is that the Red Falcons will be placed in Division 1 next year.
