April 5th, 2024 - Oshawa, ON. We are overly exhilarated to announce Oshawa Kicks new soccer program for 55+ soccer enthusiasts starting soon called “Walking Soccer”.

Walking soccer is a program we decided to create that targets the elderly community of athletes who love to be active but don’t have any sports leagues to play in.

We believe that the elderly community doesn’t have many options to improve their health in the ways of sporting activities like other ages do.

Walking soccer plans to be a fun and inclusive way for people 55+ to stay active, socialize and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

This program also aims to improve physical health by providing a low-impact form of exercise and promotes cardiovascular health, social interactions by fostering camaraderie, social connections, and a sense of belonging, and mental health by reducing stress and anxiety while encouraging effort, and teamwork, to keep the mind sharp, as well as cognitive skills/function by improving memory, attention, processing speed and flexibility.

The first planned day of walking soccer will be an activation segment during the Frank Sobil Spring Classic on May 10th to show off how it will work and we have high hopes of continuing this as a future 55+ inclusive and diverse 10-week soccer program.
